Open Day raises funds for the RNLI

By Press Release May 5, 2023

Cowes RNLI held its annual open day, which left some crew members feeling very worn out, following Monday’s Mayday Mile Relay.

The relay involved Josh Matthews, Andrew Stretton, Mat Randall, Loya Jane Mitchell, Ady Stothard and Katie Lewis, who were fund-raising with a run along the High Street. First back to station was the team of Josh and Andy, followed by Mat and Loya.

The lifeboat then gave a demonstration of a rescue in the harbour, taking a ‘casualty’ in their boat to the safety of Trinity Landing, and transporting them by stretcher to Cowes Parade.

The race has raised over £200, so far, for the charity. A spokesman said: “Thank you very much to all who donated.

“Should you have missed the fun, and wish to contribute, there is a donation slot at the station, or a contactless point, in the RNLI shop window in the High Street, nearby.”

A full selection of the photos taken by the crew is available on the Cowes RNLI Facebook page.
