Oakfield crowned combination champions in football

Oakfield Reserves secured the Combination Two Championship, on Wednesday evening, after coming back from a goal behind to win 4-2 at home to High Park A.

Talisman, Josh Parsons, netted a hat-trick to be crowned top scorer for the season, and Chaz Broadbent also made his mark on the Oakfield scoresheet. Oakfield’s skipper, Chaz Watterson, said: “It’s been a tremendous season, thanks to manager, Andrew Bennett, and all involved the club. We look forward to the celebrations.”

The side turned disappointment into delight when the IW Football Association awarded the side points following an appeals process from a result earlier in the season. The decision meant the win against High Park A saw them secure enough points to overtake Osborne Coburg A and claim the title.
