Preziosa Therapia officially opened its doors on Friday evening, welcoming guests into its newly-refurbished home at 97 High Street, Newport, and marking the launch of its community counselling service.

The ribbon was cut by Nigel Hartley, High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, who told guests that simply stepping into the building he knew it was an example of “good people doing good things”, and it was place where people would be listened to, giving them the confidence and resiliance to reimagine their futures, and the team would “quite simply, change peoples’ lives”.

The opening marks a significant moment for founder, Louise Rippon, a qualified therapist and accredited Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) practitioner, who said the event was not just about unveiling a new space, but making a public commitment to the Island. That commitment is substantial: at least 1,000 hours of free counselling for Isle of Wight residents.

The pledge, she said, represents 1,000 hours of “support, connection, compassion, and an opportunity for people to be heard, without the financial barrier that so often prevents people accessing counselling”. The free sessions will be funded through Preziosa Therapia’s own contribution, alongside a small group of corporate sponsors who want to invest in the wellbeing of Islanders.

Louise said emotional support should never depend on someone’s ability to pay, and that businesses have the power to make a meaningful difference locally. “This is more than a counselling service,” she said. “It is an investment in people, in our community, and in the belief that everyone deserves to be heard.”

With the doors now open, the service begins delivering on its promise.
