‘Nasty people stealing from children’: West Wight Nursery burgled

A charity nursery has been burgled overnight in the West Wight.

The West Wight Nursery in Totland Bay was targeted by thieves using an “angle grinder” overnight on Thursday (September 6).

Burglars accessed two shed containing toys and tools belong to the charity run nursery.

The thieves were caught on CCTV and police are reviewing the footage as part of their investigation.

The nursery staff have asked people to be on the lookout hedge trimmers, a strimmer or any old tools to report it to police.

Nursery manager Kimberley Tyrell posted to Facebook: “To whomever burgled our sheds last night and stole our tools.

“We are a charity with limited funds to replace items that you stole. Our CCTV footage is been reviewed.

“If anyone is offered hedge trimmers, strimmer and old tools please get in touch.

“I can’t believe that using an angle grinder did not illicit some attention but they came prepared, nasty, nasty people stealing from children.”

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “West Wight Nursery in Totland Bay has been broken into. Two out buildings were affected, one had toys inside and nothing was taken, the other contained tools which were taken.”
