Mountbatten Group wins double awards

The Mountbatten Group, which encompasses the vital services on the Isle of Wight and in Hampshire, achieved a dual victory last week, securing two top honours at the national Charity Today awards. The end-of-life care provider was crowned UK Hospice of the Year and also triumphed in the People’s Choice award.

The UK Hospice of the Year award is a recognition of sustained excellence, honouring hospices that demonstrate exceptional compassion and innovation in person-centred care for patients and their families. Perhaps even more resonant is the People’s Choice award, which is decided by public vote. Mountbatten won this honour overwhelmingly, securing 82 per cent of votes cast, demonstrating the deep connection and esteem the charity holds within its communities.

Becky McGregor, Mountbatten’s CEO, described the accolades as a tribute to the staff and volunteers, who “Strive to be bold, helping people live well for as long as possible and supporting their friends and family, 24/7.” She added that the People’s Choice award, in particular, “Recognises the vital part our hospices play in our Hampshire and Isle of Wight communities, and we are so very grateful for your support.”
