Curtain Call Creative performers hard at work in rehearsals

It’s March! Spring is (nearly) here! And so are some wonderful shows.

March is all about madness – think March Hare – so the talented young Curtain Call Creative performers have captured the mood with the musical extravaganza ‘Mad About Musicals’ on March 6 and 7 at Shanklin Theatre. Following popular productions of ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Nativity!’, the musicals team stage performances of some of Broadway and the West End’s biggest hits, including a sneak peek into their next show, ‘Legally Blonde’! Tickets from iow.life/stmadaboutmusicals or call 868000.

Meanwhile, Curtain Up return to the Island stage, with Cheryl May’s comedy ‘Free For Hall’, at Freshwater Memorial Hall, on March 15 and 16. The local amateur dramatics group is rehearsing their pantomime in the village hall, but the venue has been triple booked and no one’s prepared to budge – will the chaos be resolved? Tickets from The Cabin in Freshwater, Orchard Bros in Freshwater Bay, and Totland Parish Office.

The Apollo Players are taking us back in time for their next play, ‘Lilies on the Land’, charting the personal journeys of four land girls who left their homes to work on farms during World War II, giving us a wonderful insight into their hardships and the friendships in this darkest of times. ‘Lilies on the Land’ will be at The Apollo Theatre from March 22 to 30 (not Sunday or Monday) at 7.30pm, with an additional 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 23, at the Apollo Theatre – tickets via iwo.life/apollotheatre or call the box office on 210010.

For anyone who hasn’t seen their shows, First Act is an amazing theatre group. Their shows are incredibly uplifting and delightful to see. This month brings us the musical ‘Monster Mayhem’, which they are bringing to Shanklin Theatre on March 26 and 27.

When two friends lose their way back to their camp site, they happen upon the secret annual celebration of the creatures of the night, code name “Mayhem”. A light-hearted show including a freakishly entertaining monster cabaret in the second half. Tickets from iow.life/stmonstermayhem or call 868000.

And that’s a wrap for March!
