Man pleads not guilty to drugs and firearms offences in Freshwater

A man accused of dealing drugs and possessing a handgun in Freshwater has pleaded not guilty to six related offences.

Robert Hughes, 30, appeared via video link from HMP High Down in Surrey on Tuesday (October 16) at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

He is accused of possessing cannabis, MDMA and heroin, on August 9, in Freshwater, with intent to supply and possessing a Glock handgun with two bullets.

Oscar Vincent, defence counsel to Hughes told the court his client “denies any knowledge” of the offences and therefore pleads not guilty.

Hughes will now face a trial at Isle of Wight Crown Court on November 26 via video link.
