Man charged following Briddlesford Road collision

A man has been charged with numerous offences, following last month’s serious collision on Briddlesford Road, which left a 28-year-old mum, Becky Wall, in a coma.

Benjamin Entwistle, 31, of Westlake Avenue, Lake, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to stop and report an accident, at an appearance at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Monday.

Becky sustained life-threatening injuries when her Vauxhall Astra was hit by a silver BMW on Briddlesford Road. The driver of the BMW fled the scene.

Mr. Entwistle did not enter a formal plea when he appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court via video link. The case was adjourned, and he will now appear before Isle of Wight Crown Court on August 12. Mr. Entwhistle was remanded in custody.
