There were bubbles, fake snow and water-guns fired at the crowd, as the 112th Yarmouth Carnival finished with a flourish on Saturday.
The winning Motorised Float was ‘Old MacSheldon had a Farm’ which was decorated by Lord-Lieutenant, Susie Sheldon, and her family and friends, for her ‘home’ carnival. The floats left The Green, led by the Vectis Corps of Drums, before the parade around town.
Judges were High Sheriff, Graham Biss, and his wife, Sue, although there was no suggestion of any bias!
The week’s prizes for a variety of events, including river sports, treasure hunt, crabbing, boat-racing, kite-flying, fishing, cycling skills and a dog and pet show were awarded by the town’s Mayor, Debbie McLeary, with Miles Peckham compering. This year’s Spirit of Carnival award went to Arthur Ward.
Among the floats were: Elves, Yarmouth Olympics, Egyptian Belly Dancers, Star Wars, and the horses from Hill Farm Stables, who were ridden by Egyptian Queens.
