So you thought there was nothing happening at the end of November on the Isle of Wight? Well, think again! Here’s something really exciting to look forward to as the nights draw in.
Organisers of the hugely popular Jack Up the Summer festival are staging a couple of great feel-good party nights – one for the 80s aficionados and one for lovers of 90s dance groove.
The cheese factor has been ramped up for the 80s night on Saturday, November 23 as The Fizz, formerly known as Bucks Fizz take to the stage to perform a fabulous live set crammed full of their greatest hits.
Bucks Fizz became one of the UK’s biggest pop acts after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their song, ‘Making Your Mind Up’, went to number one in nine countries,
More than 30 years on, the original members of Bucks Fizz are back together and are still ripping skirts off to cheers from thousands of fans, old and new.
Kicking the weekend off on the evening of Friday, November 22, it’s time to turn your boombox up and get on the floor. If you’re looking for the perfect mix of dance songs from the 1990s, the first of the two Jack Up Christmas party nights is one for you.
Dario G, best known for their 1997 hit ’Sunchyme’, which reached No2 in the UK Singles Chart will be performing live along with British Eurodance band Urban Cookie Collective, remembered for their legendary 1993 hit single ‘The Key, The Secret.’ Both nights will be held at Lower Hyde in Shanklin.
The Jack Up Christmas nights offer a ready-made party. Event Manager Sarah Moss said: “We have worked hard to ensure a special deal for our loyal Jack Up followers to thank them for their support earlier this summer. As such tickets are available at the absolute bargain price of just £15 per night. So get your fancy dress ready and prepare for not one, but two of the best parties of the year!”
Doors open at 8pm.
