Two young Isle of Wight cyclists have returned home with medals and titles after strong performances at the Malverns Classic Bike Festival.
Finley Manser-Grundy, aged seven, and his three-year-old brother, Ayrton, both competed in national events across the weekend.
Ayrton took part in the balance bike World Championships, which featured three races. In the quad eliminator he negotiated jumps and tight corners to win in a sprint finish. He then qualified fastest and won the final in the dual slalom, before finishing third in the downhill race. His results earned him the title of three-year-old World Champion.
Finley raced in the seven-year-olds category and showed his versatility across several disciplines. In the cross-country race he established an early lead, and won by 30 seconds. In the dual slalom, held on the same course as the national championships, he set the fastest qualifying time but was edged out in the final to take silver. On the final day he dominated the downhill, posting the fastest time of the day, beating even older riders.
The brothers’ family said they had an unforgettable weekend and were proud of both boys’ achievements.
