The West Wight branch of Men in Sheds was visited on Friday (July 5) by the Isle of Wight MP, Bob Seely.
Mr Seely requested to visit the West Wight Shed to find out more about the project and the work the shed does. This included the work members do in the Community.
On arrival Mr Seely was met by members of the shed as well as John Howe, County Councillor for Totland, and also representatives of both Totland & Freshwater Parish Council.
Mr Seely was shown around the West Wight Shed and was interested in why the shed had a computer area.
The sheds secretary Ian Wright said “We will be offering basic computer skills courses to men. This will include setting up an email address, how to send and receive emails, and using the internet safely on a one to one basis”.
Mr Seely was then shown around the workshop and shown pictures of past community projects that the West Wight shed have worked on included the “Sentry Box at Fort Victoria”, “Raised Allotment Beds” for “The West Wight Time Bank” and the painting of the outside of the “FYT Bus Office” last summer.
Mr Seely was also shown an old butter churn that we are currently restoring for “West Wight Pet Lifeline”. Mr Seely asked if we had any other community projects coming up and was also told about another six projects that the West Wight Shed have in the pipeline.
