‘Incredible feedback’ for new service introduced in response to Covid-19 crisis

A local company has confirmed its home delivery service is ‘very much here to stay’ after registering more than 8,000 homes for the new service since the start of the Coronavirus lockdown.  Medina at Home set up by Newport based Medina Foodservices, carried out its first home delivery on March 18, gives householders access to more than 5,000 products that the company traditionally supplied to the catering industry.  The products available include meat, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables, tinned products, frozen food, desserts, snacks, confectionery, drinks and cleaning products.  They have also now introduced toiletries and pet food and many goods are produced locally, meaning Islanders are able to support multiple local businesses by shopping with them. New lines are being added daily, including products in smaller quantities and pack sizes.

The complete change in their business model was developed very quickly at a time when supermarket delivery slots were almost impossible to secure, leaving many people including key workers and vulnerable Islanders advised not to leave their homes in very difficult situations.  Since the home delivery service was introduced new systems have been developed meaning customers can register, order and pay online whilst benefitting from the support of a skeleton team of staff available in the office Monday to Friday.

Marketing Manager Katy Wade said: “It has taken a considerable amount of time and effort from a devoted and hard-working team and the feedback has been so incredible that we are delighted to say that the service is very much here to stay when we come out of the other side.

“As a family run business, it’s vital for us to support our local employees and we thank all of our new customers for enabling us to retain our business and continue to operate.”

The minimum order is £50 to qualify for free Islandwide delivery within just two working days. You can find out more on their website www.medinaathome.co.uk or Facebook page www.facebook.com/medinaathome. They also offer a next day Click and Collect service with a minimum order of £20.
