Focus-Ryde Imaging group hosted the All-Island Image of the Year 2024 at the Binstead Community Centre on Friday (May 10).
The competition was originally organised by Bembridge Photography Club, which folded around 2008, leaving Focus-Ryde Imaging Group to take over the running of the competition.
All members of clubs on the Island, which are affiliated with The Southern Counties Photographic Federation, were invited to enter their best images.
In previous years, the competition has been a ‘print only’ event, except during the lockdown period, when it had to be held via Zoom and was a purely projected digital image event.
However, this year the format was altered so that two separate competitions could be held under the auspices of the ‘All Island Image of the Year’, one competition being for printed images and the second being for projected digital images.
The event was judged by a Southern Counties Photographic Federation senior judge, Jon Mitchell, from the Gosport Camera Club, using the federation’s criteria.
The evening finished with the presentation of trophies and certificates to the winning entrants.
Results: Projected Image: 1 Expressions, by Michael Wort (Isle of Wight Photographic Society (IWPS)); 2 Floating, by Carol Walker (IWPS); 3 We All Smile in the same Language, by Karen Dudley (Wight Vision Camera Club (WVCC).
Printed Image: 1 Let the Nature of a Photograph be a Reflection of our Thoughts, by Karen Dudley (WVCC); 2 The Beauty of Faded Tulips, by Carol Walker (IWPS); 3 Ray of Light, by Karen Long (WVCC).
