Gallybaggers are back this weekend for the half term week

Up to 100 scarecrows will grace Chillerton and Gatcombe from tomorrow (Saturday) for the annual Scarecrow Festival.

The festival has been running bi-annually since 2010 and is an event that both villages put on for Islanders and visitors to enjoy for free during the half term holidays.

Aunt Sally’s Tea Rooms will be open in the Village Hall from 11am – 4pm throughout the festival. Scarecrow maps will be available from the Village Hall and The Gallybagger Inn, with a public vote set to be held to find the festival’s best scarecrow.

The Gallybagger Inn will be open over this weekend and on Saturday, June 1 from midday to 4pm with live music acts each day.

The IW Prostate Cancer Support Group will be involved on June 1 at the Festival finale with an awareness stall. They will be running a children’s competition based on their own scarecrow as well as encouraging men at the event to get themselves PSA tested.

The Scarecrow Festival is free to enter and runs from tomorrow until June 1.
