By Isle of Wight ObserverHovertravel has suspended service as the Environment Agency issues flood alerts with “force six winds” for certain parts of the Island.
The agency fear larger waves may lead to spray over the top of defences across the Island.
They say high tide will take place for 30 minutes at 1.40pm (October 13), this is when the risk of flooding is greatest.
The government body fear the spray will affect sea front roads, esplanades and car parks.
Freshwater Bay, Sandown, Shanklin, Gurnard and Ryde are likely to be worst affected.
Yarmouth ferry terminal carpark may flood and Hovertravel is currently suspended due to adverse weather conditions.
Commuters should be aware that travel may be disrupted.
