The Cowes / East Cowes Floating Bridge has been taken out of service this morning (Monday) due to fears of it hitting a wall on the East Cowes side of the River.

The vessel has been moored up at the Cowes slipway and staff are turning vehicles away.

An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson has said: “The Floating Bridge has been temporarily suspended, as it cannot berth at East Cowes without colliding with the GKN wall, due to a combination of wind and tide.

A passenger launch is likely to be in place until later this afternoon.
