By Isle of Wight ObserverFire crews from Newport, East Cowes and Ryde responded to an alarm activation at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport at just after 6.00 pm on Thursday evening (December 27).
At least four appliances arrived at the scene at the North end of the hospital building close to Maternity, the Stroke Unit and the Children’s Ward.
However, following an inspection of the hospital building, the call out was declared a false alarm, and the crews were stood down and returned to their stations.
