Final show for this years winter jumping series

The final show in Lake Farm Equitation Centre’s 2018/19 winter jumping series was held last weekend on a very blustery Sunday.

Riders have competed throughout the series gaining points if placed 1st to 4th and those with the highest number of points at the end of the series were awarded champion or reserve champion rosettes and sashes.

Classes were as popular as ever with riders braving the windy conditions. Class 1 (9 inches) saw many of our younger riders doing well though it was Elizabeth Waghorn and Smokey who took the honours. Partnered by Matt Legge’s grey pony, Bertie, Ruby Harper took victory in Class 2 (12 inches). Jack Dempsey riding Lorie Sims’ pony Whisper won both Class 3 (18 inches) and Class 4 (2ft). Callum Crocombe and Brenna Hughes’ Maggie May won Class 5 (2ft 3). Phoebe Niccolls-Taylor and Murphy just pipped Sharon Waghorn to take the win in Class 6 (2ft 6). Karen Begley and Signs of Love took victory in the penultimate class of the day Class 7 (2ft 9) and Tian Hughes and his lovely big mare, Bisto took the win in the final class of the day, Class 8 (3ft).

This last show also saw the Munchkin Memorial Cup being awarded to the rider combination who the event organisers had improved the most. This cup was donated by Janet Morter in memory of her late pony, Munchkin. This year, the cup was awarded to Chloe Barnes who has competed in the series on Melanie Newnham’s lovely grey horse, Strike it Lucky.
