Hundreds of plastic ducks were released into the stream at the side of The Crown Inn, Shorwell, as part of its annual fun day last Monday (August 28).
The crowds were treated to two hours of fun by award-winning entertainer, AJ, whose bubble machine proved especially popular with the children. Landlady Kristine White said: “It was a fabulous day and we had a big crowd in our gardens for the duck races.
“As well as AJ we had someone putting fake tattoos on the children and, later in the afternoon, there was music from Milo. Vintage Scoops also dropped by in their ice-cream van.
“The pub’s joint owner, Simon Cant, put on his big duck suit and jumped into the stream to take part in one of the races and got absolutely soaked!
“As well as lots of fun, we also raised £400 for the village hall, which is the most we have ever made.”
