Derek Sandy to sing on Victoria of Wight

One of the Island’s favourite adopted sons, Derek Sandy, will be singing on several Wightlink crossings over the next few weekends, following his success in the Britain’s Got Talent auditions. Derek stunned judges on the hit talent show with his song, Welcome to the Isle of Wight, and they rewarded him with four ‘yes’ votes.

Derek will be spreading his love of the Isle of Wight to everyone on board Victoria of Wight on the 11am and 1pm sailings from Portsmouth tomorrow (Saturday), as well as on the following Friday and Saturday, and on Saturday, June 1.

Derek said: “I can’t wait to perform on board Wightlink’s Victoria of Wight this summer and share my love of the Isle of Wight with passengers and crew. I’m really happy that my music has raised the profile of the Island and hope it will encourage more people to visit in the future.”

Wightlink Chief Executive, Keith Greenfield, said: “We were delighted that the judges recognised Derek’s star quality in Britain’s Got Talent and know our customers will want to hear him performing on board our flagship Victoria of Wight.”
