Death Cafe comes to Newport

The Death Cafe is almost upon us – but fear not, it’s much more jovial than it sounds.

Coming to Newport’s God’s Providence House Tea Rooms in St Thomas Square on Wednesday (September 12) – the Death Cafe meets to discuss making the most of your life.

From 2.30pm to 4pm, the group will gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death – or rather life before death.

The Newport Death Cafe has been meeting since January 2016, Death Cafes are an international movement which aims to help us make the most of our lives.

A spokesman for the Death Cafe said: “They are more about life than death and those who come usually feel uplifted by the experience. It is group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

“There is no charge for admission but we hope you will buy a drink and you maybe unable to resist a delicious cake. We have a room to ourselves.”
