Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang flying into Shanklin Theatre

Join The Island Savoyards this October half term on a musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Coming to Shanklin Theatre’s stage from October 24 – 27 at 7.30pm and October 26 – 27 at 2.30pm, it’ll be a show for many to enjoy.

Based on the 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find ‘Truly Scrumptious’.

An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover that the car they name Chitty Chitty Bang Bang because of the noise it makes, has magical properties!

Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family join forces with beautiful Truly Scrumptious and batty old Grandpa Potts to travel to far away Vulgaria; but will they save the day?

The Island Savoyards are excited to bring this production to the Isle of Wight. The show boasts a cast of over 40, a 12-piece live orchestra, and of course, THAT flying car!

This has been a busy year for The Island Savoyards. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the 3rd production for the society in 2019. ‘My Fair Lady’ was staged in April and ‘Sister Act’ in August. They are looking forward to seeing audiences once again this October with one of the biggest productions they have undertaken.

The Island Savoyards support Island charities by donating all proceeds from the sale of show programmes. The chosen charity for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is Age UK Isle of Wight. For more information and tickets, please visit: shanklintheatre.co.uk
