Cowes artist and designer, Brian Marriott, is holding his annual solo Christmas Exhibition at the Island Sailing Club, Cowes.
Working with recycled waste glass fragments from the Isle of Wight Studio Glass, combined with newly formed glass, Brian creates an impasto-like textured painting. He said: “I apply my skills to create abstract images from 1000s of glass fragments to create beautifully vibrant and uplifting images that take full advantage of the qualities within the glass, which, when re-fired in the kiln, fuse into a stunning transformation.”
Brian’s pictures depict a diverse range of Island landscapes including yacht racing, still life and abstract glass images, and prints.
They can make a stunning and unique Christmas gift – perfect for somebody those people impossible to buy for.
One of many visitor comments during last summer’s Open Studios summed up Brian’s work: “So original, stunning and vibrant, it’s fantastic work; I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
The exhibition runs from tomorrow (Saturday) to December 20 from 11am to 5pm each day in the Beken Room at the Island Sailing Club in Cowes High Street. Visitors to the exhibition are very welcome to enjoy the Club’s bar and dining room.
