Body discovered at Cemetery near Cowes

A body has been discovered at Northwood Cemetery in Cowes on Saturday morning (November 24).

Police were called at 8.10am to Newport Road after members of the public discovered the body.

Three police vehicles and a number of ambulance service personnel are also attending.

Friends and relatives of the deceased have arrived at the scene at 9am according to a witness who did not wish to be named.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “Next of kin have been informed but formal identification procedures are ongoing.

“At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
