The much-loved carving of a soldier, ‘Stanley’, has returned to Fort Victoria country park.
The statue was originally made by wood carver and sculptor, Paul Sivell, more than 10 years ago, as part of various Lottery-funded improvements to the area.
However, over the years, ‘Stanley’ became a little bit worse for wear due to the weather.
West Wight Men in Sheds, based in Totland, stepped in to lend a helping hand and took him away to be refurbished over the winter.
And their hard work has paid off, and, on Wednesday, he was back on display in all his former glory.
