The Bay Wailers choir from Freshwater celebrated 10 years of singing together with a packed concert at All Saints’ Church, Totland.
They originally set up in members’ houses, with Barney Barnes leading and growing the choir until 2022, when Tallulah Smith stepped into his shoes. Tallulah then led the Wailers through a variety of songs, from sea shanties, to Beatles numbers, Beach Boys and David Bowie, all sung in harmony to great reviews.
They were joined by the West Wight Friendly Dementia Choir, led by former member, Pam Wedgewood, a renowned pianist and composer, who filled the church with laughs and audience interaction.
The joyful choir blasted out an array of crowd pleasers, from Oklahoma, to the highly amusing Fling it here, Fling it there. The church itself was also celebrating an important milestone as it was built 150 years ago.
The night was a success and raised a total of £975 for local charities.
