Ryde Lions Club has sadly announced that after 55 years of service to the local community they are to close at the end of June.
The club has been a proud member of Lions Clubs International, a worldwide voluntary organisation, with over 46,000 clubs operating in more than 200 countries in the world.
The first Lions club to be formed on the Island, since its inception, Ryde Lions has helped many good causes locally and been a source of friendship and support to its members. The Lions’ barbeque was particularly popular, helping to raise thousands of pounds for good causes.
The decision to close down was not taken lightly, but with ageing members, and a lack of new blood, recently it became clear that the end was inevitable.
A spokesman for the club said: “We would like to thank everybody that has supported us over the years, and, of course, for their generous donations.”
