Aspire to sing and have fun

Aspire Singers

Aspire Singers, Ryde’s community choir, is extending an open invitation to prospective new members.

For four years, this group has been a lively Tuesday evening fixture at Aspire Ryde, providing a much-needed outlet for vocal expression and social connection, and now they want to make some noise for Christmas.

The group’s repertoire is a joyful mix of genres, spanning classic musical theatre hits, pop favourites from across the decades, and they have also tackled an ambitious rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. They have performed at high-profile Island events, including the Ventnor Fringe Festival and Riverfest, as well as many community gatherings.

Choir leader, Jess Ong, describes the group as a “Lovely, friendly group, open to all ages and abilities,” noting that it has become a bit of a lifeline for some members.

This autumn recruitment drive is perfectly timed for the festive season, with new singers invited to help raise money at the Aspire Christmas Fayre and spread cheer through carol singing at local care homes.
If you’re looking to let off steam, and leave feeling lighter, with a smile on your face, head to the Community Hall at Aspire Ryde (Trinity Buildings, Dover Street) from 5:30pm for two hours every Tuesday evening, starting October 21. No experience is necessary; just a willingness to have a laugh and sing your heart out.
