Appley Tower in Ryde sees its first wedding

The historic Appley Tower, in Ryde, played host to its first wedding on Sunday. Paulo and Lois, from Buckinghamshire, were the lucky pair to tie the knot at the picturesque location.

Appley Tower, a 19th Century folly with striking features and stunning location, was recently restored and provided the perfect romantic backdrop for the special day. The event came into being after celebrant, Elaine Cesar, suggested the idea when she was approached by the couple wanting a romantic beach wedding. She said: “It was by co-incidence that I found out that the tower had been refurbished and had recently opened. When they saw photographs I sent them, the couple visited their ‘castle’ and the deal was done. A magical dream had come true for them.”

The couple celebrated at Appley Tower and then Ryde Castle. They returned to the beach later in the evening, to have a dip in the sea.
