A variety of care is available at The Foot Therapy Centre

Rebecca Todd & Mike Tattersall

The Foot Therapy Centre, in Newport, is welcoming Rebecca Todd to the team from February 5. Rebecca is a fully-qualified podiatrist, having completed BSc Hons in Podiatry at St Mary’s Hospital, alongside Plymouth University.

Rebecca has worked at St Mary’s Hospital for several years whilst completing her apprenticeship degree. Soon she will be joining the Foot Therapy Centre, in Newport, for two days a week to support a range of individuals in need of routine care such as nail cuts, corns or callus removal.

From February, The Foot Therapy Centre will be offering a 15-minute appointment slot for diabetics or non-diabetics, over the age of 66, in need of just nail trimming, at a reduced rate of £25!

As podiatrists, they know that diabetes can lead to poor circulation, neuropathy and increased risk of infection. For those reasons it is important that regular checks and foot care is carried out. Many people are wary or unable to carry out general foot care such as nail cutting themselves. However, leaving them uncut can lead to damage to surrounding skin, with an increased risk of infection. By offering a reduced rate appointment, The Foot Therapy Centre hope that it will make nail cutting more affordable and accessible.

Full treatments for nails, callus, corns, etc., will still be available if you have additional problems.

The centre is also offering nail surgery under local anaesthetic for problem nails, and staff are able to carry out neurovascular examinations for people with poor circulation and neuropathy in the feet caused by diabetes.
