WI members decorate village telephone box

Niton Women’s Institute has been busy decorating the village telephone box again following last year’s efforts which were a global sensation.

Following lockdown last year, members celebrated their 100th birthday by covering the village telephone box with around 200 knitted and crocheted flowers which attracted comments on social media from all over the UK and as far away as Australia and Africa.

Secretary, Penny Smith, said: “Our new decorations have been made by members of the WI and a group of village committee members.

“We have attached them to the telephone box to make a Christmassy corner with the village Christmas tree.

“We think the children will particularly love the little snowmen. We had a fantastic response last year, so we will see what happens this time.”
