Weekend evoked spirit of the 1940s

By Press Release Jul 7, 2023

The Island stepped back in time with the ‘1940s Experience’ at Havenstreet Steam Railway last weekend.

Thousands attended the event with many dressed in the clothes of the era to be entertained by live music and visit an array of displays.

On the ENSA stage, entertainment was provided by female singer, Amanda Rae, Nick Golden (in the guise of Bud Flanagan) and their dancing, performed by Now That’s Jive. Displays ranged from a MK805 Spitfire, military vehicles and caravans, steam vehicles, a vintage fairground and various re-enactment groups. There was even a vintage street containing an electric shop, hairdresser and grocer’s shop.

There were lots of stalls selling ‘40s clothes and militaria, shortbread and cheesecakes, rag rugging, cross-stitch and crochet.
