More than 20 people took part, on a blustery day, to help with a beach clean along East Cowes Esplanade, on Sunday.
The clean coincided with a low spring tide, so the volunteers were given the opportunity to go further out to collect rubbish.
Organiser, Michael Douse, said: “Some of the younger people who volunteer with the East Cowes Carnival came along at the last minute to help us, which was a real boost.
“We had about 10 youngsters there in a total of 22 volunteers, so it was great to see them get involved.
“Two of them, Frehley Margetts and Bod Pheasant, saw two traffic cones embedded deep into the wet sand, way out on the beach and managed to get them out.
“We were backed by East Cowes Town Council, who lent us some equipment, as well as Surfers Against Sewage and the Marine Conversation Society, who can mark it on their website and log it as an official beach clean.
“We collected seven bags of rubbish, including a number of fishing lines and nets which could get our wildlife into trouble, as well as lots of glass and cigarette butts. So it was a very successful, worthwhile exercise.”
