Vectis Youth FC doubles in size as it picks up two awards

A forward-thinking football club have added two more top awards to their collection.

Vectis Youth, formed in 2014, have been recognised for their achievements on and off the
field.

The club have won the Hampshire FA’s Fair Play Award in the male youth category, while
also scooping the Isle of Wight Charter Standard Club of the Year prize.

Chairman James Brewer said: “We are extremely proud to win the fair play award, as it’s
justification for the key messages our committee, coaches and managers try to instil in our
players.

“The charter standard recognition is a reward for our commitment in ensuring the club not
only meets the administrative requirements set out by the FA but also celebrates the way we carry out our match-day duties.

“As we move forward, all the committee are determined not to stand still as a club.

“We are already investigating the possibility of developing an adult side to reach the next
step of the charter standard – FA Charter Community Club.

“We have an exciting future.”

Vectis Youth started with six teams but that figure has now more than doubled, with sides
playing across a range of age groups.

Last year, they were awarded an FA grant to introduce a girls’ section at the club and they
also run coaching sessions for toddlers and young children.

Last season, their Under 14s completed the Isle of Wight league and cup double, as well as
winning the SCI tournament and representing the club at an international tournament in
Blackpool.
