The Island’s community radio station is looking for more people to join its team.
Station manager, Ian Mac, said: “Vectis Radio has gone from strength to strength since it launched in 2010, and we’ve had a huge number of people helping us make that journey. There are some amazing things in the pipeline for the station, so we need to bolster that team, not only to replace those who have moved on, but to expand what we do and spread the load more evenly.”
The most obvious opportunity is to become a presenter or co-host. This will allow you to share your passion and personality as a show presenter, or co-host with experienced broadcasters to build your confidence and skills. To host your own show, you need to be at least 18 years old; co-hosts need to be 16.
If you still want to use your voice, but don’t fancy doing a show, then you could explore opportunities in news teams and assist with voiceover and production.
There are opportunities behind the scenes, too, if talking on the air isn’t for you.
Fund-raising events are held regularly, and you could help to organise them. If you are a dab-hand at form filling, there are grants to be applied for too.
You should be Island-based, and all volunteers will be required to sign a contract after being familiarised with the rules and regulations. If you would like to get involved email ian.mac@vectisradio.fm.
