By Press Release Oct 12, 2021

The shortlist for the 2021 Community Radio Awards has been revealed, with Vectis Radio nominated for six awards including the Station of the Year award.

Of the other five awards, two were for the Vectis Radio 4P radio training school in the Community Development and Innovation categories. Another, in the innovation category, was for Adult Learning and an outside broadcast of a live carol concert in the Ryde’s Tesco car park was nominated in the Live Event or Outside Broadcast of the Year. Finally, presenter and station stalwart, Kelvin Currie, has been nominated as Sage Person of the Year.

Station manager, Ian Mac, said: “Kelvin’s nomination is so well deserved; I am blown away by the Station of the Year nomination and the 4ps Radio Training School being nominated for the fourth year in a row is amazing. It means that we must be getting something right.”

He also thanked the Isle of Wight foundation and the Isle of Wight Council for supporting the station financially.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Coventry Transport Museum on October 23.
