Islanders are being invited to turn the Island bright yellow this October, in support of Mountbatten’s Go Yellow 2025 campaign. The fund-raising initiative, which takes place on October 10, encourages people to wear, bake, decorate, and celebrate in yellow to raise vital funds for 24/7 expert end-of-life care provided across the Island.
Whether it’s donning a yellow outfit, hosting a themed cake sale, or raffling yellow items at work, every splash of colour helps support Mountbatten’s services in homes, at its inpatient unit, and within the John Cheverton Centre community space. Organisers hope the campaign will not only raise money but also spark conversations about how Islanders live and die, with dignity and compassion.
For those not planning their own event, the John Cheverton Centre café, in Newport, will be serving a Big Yellow High Tea for two, from 6–10 October. Charity shops across the Island will also be showcasing yellow-themed window displays and offering items to help Islanders get involved.
Go Yellow organiser, Harri McNeil, said, “Go Yellow on October 10 is a brilliant way to support Mountbatten Isle of Wight in a way that works for you. Dress up, eat cake or raffle yellow items – there are so many ways to get involved. We’ll be running a blog, so do tell us what you’re up to and we’ll help share your event.”
To sign up, visit iw.observer/go-yellow, call 217300, or email fundraisingiow@mountbatten.org.uk with “Go Yellow” in the subject line. If you get involved please tag Mountbatten on social media using #GoYellow2025.
