Three males spotted ‘trying car doors’ in Newport

Three men have been spotted “trying car doors” police say. 

Officers attended the scene at the junction of Cypress Road and St John’s Road in Newport to search for the individuals at around 2.24am on Tuesday (July 31).

Hampshire Constabulary say they conducted a “thorough area search” but could not find any evidence of damage or interference with vehicles.

Police could not locate any suspects either.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We had a report at 2.24am this morning (July 31) in the junction of Cypress Road and St John’s Road, Newport.

“Three males were trying car doors. We conducted a thorough area search and no persons were located, no cars identified with damage or interference.”
