A Ryde musician has written a World Cup song encapsulating Christmas as well.

Liam Hodge is the lead singer of Island bands, the Dead Perrys and Weeks, as well as a soloist.

His song, ‘World Cup for Christmas’, is out on Youtube and in the process of being distributed as well as being streamed.
Liam, 40, said: “Over the years, I’ve done a World Cup song for each tournament and I said to my pals at The Falcon, Ryde, that I would sort out something this year, then I forgot all about it.

“As the tournament got nearer, I hadn’t done anything and they persuaded me to do it! It’s all a bit of fun and I am not overly ambitious or seeking fame and glory but I wouldn’t say no to a Christmas No 1 or a World Cup for Christmas!”

The song features his grandson, Kai, who introduces it and he’s also backed by Sid Ryan, from Grade 2, and Nigel Lynk, from Ska’d for Life, who also play in Weeks.

Liam, who has been playing music for 20 years and manages the Haylands Farm charity shop in Ryde, added: “Obviously, the video also features some of the regulars from the Falcon!”
