There’s still time for homes and businesses directly affected by October’s floods to apply for UK Government funded support, but the deadline is fast approaching.
While a large number of residents have already applied for flood recovery support, the IW Council is encouraging anyone who has yet to apply to do so before the deadline on January 4. So far, the council has given out 168 community recovery grants, totalling £81,500, and approved 157 applications for council tax relief.
Business applications are now being processed following a short delay after the government issued revised guidance.
The support on offer includes a ‘Community Recovery Grant’ in which flooded households in affected areas can apply for up to £500 to help with immediate costs, a ‘Business Recovery Grant’ for small to medium businesses in affected areas for up to £2,500, and ‘Council Tax Discount & Business Rate Relief Schemes’ giving a 100 per cent discount for a minimum of three months.
Both households and business owners can apply by completing an application form via iow.life/floodsupport.
Give as much information as possible when applying. Upload any supporting evidence like photographs of the damage with your application form. A visit may also be needed.
If you need further information or help contact the council at iwcfloodrecovery@iow.gov.uk or call 823111.
