Dear Editor,
It was telling that Andrew Day, quite pompously, touted his view of the ongoing war in Ukraine as “proper research”, implying that my data was somehow improper (Island Soapbox, Oct 11). When the reality, is we have different opinions, and find different sources of evidence more persuasive.
Mr Day is entitled to believe whatever he chooses, but he doesn’t get to be the artiber of truth. The Ukraine not having elections due to being under martial law is in no small part due to the enforced absence of opposition parties. Nobody can argue for a path to peace. Nor did Mr Day have any response to Zelensky’s suspension of democratic values, censoring free speech, eliminating free media, locking up dissenters and clamping down on religion. All traits of a dictator, just like Putin.
As for the Azov battalion mending their ways, if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck!
