The Island’s Lord-Lieutenant, Susie Sheldon, unveiled a special commemorative VE Day 80 plaque, with SSIL coxswain, Mark Birch, and a member of the Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat Crew.
The charity was joined in the unveiling by IW High Sheriff, Jacque Gazzard, MP, Joe Robertson, and members of Sandown Town Council, who presented a second plaque to be housed at the SSIL’s base on the revetment.
