Spectacular St Saviour’s spring display planned

By Press Release Nov 22, 2022

Parishioners at St Saviour’s Church, Totland, helped plant nearly 2,400 spring bulbs in the graveyard next door as part of its centenary celebrations.

The church will be 100 years old on August 15 next year and, as part of the project, there will be two stained glass windows near the font, a plaque commemorating the event and a celebration Mass on the day.

It is hoped 2,500 spring bulbs being planted in the grounds will produce a magnificent display of flowers next year. A section of the graveyard has been reserved for children at St Saviour’s Primary School to finish the planting.

The church will hold several events during the next few months to raise money for the celebration. Next Saturday, November 26, there will be a games night with ‘American Supper’ style finger buffet in the Holy Family Centre next to the church between 4pm and 7pm.

All are invited to attend, not just parishioners. Tickets will be available on the door £3 adults and £1 children.
