Shanklin FC’s picked up the prestigious Sported National Outstanding Collaboration & Partnership Award, working with Shanklin VYCC, with player and SVYCC Volunteer Peter Wilson collecting the award at a glitzy evening in Barclays Bank HQ on London’s Canary Wharf.
The Partnership Award recognises the number of players ‘graduating’ from Shanklin VYCC to Shanklin FC, via youth, Women’s and Men’s sides, as well as the fundraising collaboration which has seen investment in changing facilities, accessible and family friendly facilities, and initiatives such as the Green Flag Award.
The partnership has seen kit donated to schools in Uganda and Gambia, as well as Hants FA Awards for Grounds Maintenance Volunteers, which has enabled the ground to be used by the Hants Air Ambulance.
Peter Wilson, who recently completed the Round the Island Race accompanied by partner Lucy Ann Berry also from Shanklin FC, said: “It was an honour to receive this national award on behalf of Shanklin FC and VYCC, which have both been a big part of my, and countless others, lives, and we will build on this success for the benefit of future generations.”
