‘Send it to Downing Street?’

By Chris Cornford Dec 23, 2020

Last Friday (Dec 11) the police reported on Facebook that an unexploded World War II bomb had been unearthed in Shorwell. A number of Islanders remarked that they would not have recognised it as dangerous and it looked like something they would pick up and throw for their dog. One wag, presumably fed up with the Brexit negotiations, suggested sending it to Downing Street.

A cordon was put around it and a military bomb disposal unit was called to deal with the device.
