School trips provide business opportunity

By Press Release Oct 30, 2022

Rookley-based company, Education Destination, arranges study trips to the Island for schools and colleges, supported by high-quality curriculum-linked learning and teaching resources.

The company currently works with more than 50 accommodation providers and attractions, but are now looking for many more to help satisfy increased demand for their services in 2023.

Managing director, Jon Carter, explains: “Our Island classroom, with its history, scenery, and attractions, make the Island an attractive destination for school groups across all year groups.

“We now need more accommodation providers and attractions to work with us, due to high demand from schools wanting to visit the Island in 2023.”

School trips can create life-long memories that encourage many to visit the Island again with families and friends. If schools are unable to find accommodation, they may go elsewhere, losing valuable revenue for the Island’s fragile tourism and hospitality sectors.

Jon added: “We give comprehensive support to all our partners. Deposits are paid on booking, with payment in full prior to the group’s arrival, often up to 12 weeks in advance. We take no commission, so providers receive 100 per cent of the cost of what they provide. We also take care of detailed planning and itineraries, including risk assessments and transport needs.”

Groups range in size from 10 to 200, with stays of 3-5 nights from Monday to Friday, making this an attractive proposition, even for smaller B&Bs and guest houses whose owners have not considered this potential source of income before. All trips take place during term time, providing valuable winter deposit payments and extra off-season trade.
