Division One
Havenstreet A 3 v Ryde Rankers 7, Ryde C 10 v Newport Vics B 0, Ryde Goshawks 4 v Ryde Rankers 6, Ryde B 7 v Newport Vics A 3
Ryde C are tied at the top with Ryde Rankers on 41 points each, although the Rankers have a game in hand. At this stage of the season it looks as if the title will be fought out between these two teams.
Ryde C had an easy win against Newport Vics B and did not drop a game, whilst the Rankers were involved in the match of the week against Ryde Goshawks. The Goshawk’s Steve Mills was largely untroubled as he sailed through his games unbeaten, whilst team mate Martin Johnstone was particularly unlucky to lose all three of his games. Johnstone teamed up with Mills to win the doubles for the Goshawks; however the Ranker’s Hugh Idle, Graham Evans and Lewis Johnstone claimed the match 6-4.
Ryde B met Newport Vics A, with Ryde’s Alex Rorke unbeaten and player of the match, whilst Vic’s Dave Hilliam was on form with two wins. Giles and Rorke took the doubles to win the match 7-3.
Division Two
Shorwell Spinners 3 v Ryde Detonators 7, Newport Vics C 6 v Newport Vics D 4, Ryde Rascals 6 v Havenstreet B 4, Ryde Revellers 5 v Ryde Rising Stars 5, Ryde Quintet 4 v Ryde Rockets 6
Spike Hughes won all three for the Revellers, but the Rising Star’s cadet, Jye Lock, took Hughes to five sets and lost only on deuce. Lock also had an excellent win against the Reveller’s Gourav Shah.
Fellow cadet Theo Lewis beat Nicky Dando, whilst team mate Tom Waddell also beat Shah. With a five set doubles thriller to decide the match, Waddell and Lock took it in five sets and the match ended in a draw.
Ryde Rocket’s Trevor Percival was unbeaten in their match against the strong Ryde Quintet, with team mate Tim Wakeley on excellent form, winning two, and the match ended 6-4 to the Rockets.
In a Newport derby, bottom-of-the-table Vics D fought hard against the much higher ranked Vics C, with the D team’s Debbie Yates winning two, and team mates Chris Gordine and Richard Jackson winning one each. The match rested on the doubles, with the C team’s Mike Jose and Dave Newnham winning in four sets against Yates and Gordine to take the match 6-4.

In Division Three, newcomers Wroxall Warriors are fast becoming the team to beat, and they now lie in second place behind St Lawrence Lizards, after their 8-2 win against Shorwell Saints. Ryde Retailers are in third place with a game in hand, and the Division
