Ryde ‘racial abuse’ arrest outside kebab shop

A man in his 20s has been arrested after an alleged racially charged crime.

Police say they responded to calls of “racially abusive behaviour and a non-injury assault” shortly before 9pm on Wednesday (July 25).

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the assault in High Street outside the kebab shop.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called to a report of racially abusive behaviour and a non-injury assault at the Kebab House on the High Street in Ryde shortly before 9pm on Wednesday (July 25).

“No-one was hurt.

“A 26-year-old man from Ryde was subsequently arrested and remains in custody at this time.”

The Kebab House in Ryde would neither confirm nor deny the incident had taken place outside their premises.
