An evening of Baroque music is being performed by Ryde Chorus tomorrow (Saturday) at All Saints’ Church, Ryde, at 7pm.
The Baroque period, 1600-1750, was a time of great change in art, literature and particularly music. Some of the most famous and best-loved composers – Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel and Antonio Vivaldi – were active at this time.
The choir will be led by musical director, Jurgita Leistrumaite, and will present Vivaldi’s Credo in G accompanied by local guest soloists and musicians. Choral music by Monteverdi, Buxterhude, Bach and Handel will also be performed. The concert is the first in a developing collaboration between All Saints’ Church and Ryde Chorus.
Further events are planned, the second being a People’s Performance of Handel’s Messiah, scheduled for December 12, at which there will be a retiring offering in aid of Mountbatten Hospice.
Tickets for the Baroque concert are £10 and available on the door or from iow.life/rydechorus.
